GIVE ‘LOVE IN A BOX’ TO OUR FORCES

Sat 18th August 2012

Grays Shopping Centre are launching a special campaign on Saturday 18th August appealing to the generous spirit of Grays and asking them to take part in the Operation Shoe Box appeal.

Operation Shoe Box is an organisation that encourages people to fill shoe boxes with a range of useful and everyday items that mean a great deal to the troops, some of whom have been away for months and are missing basic items that people in the UK take for granted.   Shoppers are being asked to fill an empty shoe box with everyday items such as deodorant, sweets, razors and wet wipes.  The boxes will then be sent to the UK’s service men and women around the globe including Afghanistan.   Donators are also encouraged to tape £2 onto the outside of each box upon their gift in order to aid with delivery expenses.   Centre Manager, Keith Evans, commented: “Operation Shoe Box is a fantastic organisation working for a really great cause.  “We are hoping that the people of Grays can help us reach our target of 200 boxes as well as ensure that the troops abroad have a great start to 2013.  People can also include a personal message in their box which will help boost morale and make even more of a difference to the recipient.”   Standard size shoe boxes and filled shoe boxes can be donated to the Grays Shopping Centre via the mall display on 18th August or via the Centre Management Suite.
